My Paddington is a community engagement and heritage project that brings people together and fosters lasting relationships around a shared discovery and interpretation of local history. It focuses on ‘people and places’ who have lived in the area and have a story to tell. The project delivers fun shared creative activities such as flag making, story telling, creative writing, walking and talking.
Paddington Arts is a founder partner of the Paddington Festival, and have been part of the community for thirty years. They have commissioned a series of 12 hand painted silk flags from Kinetika which will incorporate drawings made in the My Paddington project. The community engagement workshops take place between 21st May to 1st June 2018 where participants will draw their stories, learn how to wax the designs, and then use dye to make them brightly coloured!
The beautiful flags, when complete, will be taken on a procession on walks through the area, and form a backdrop at the open air event to launch the Paddington Festival. An exhibition will also run during the festival, and there will be a gala event to thank and reward participants and volunteers.
The Paddington Arts flags will appear here:
