Kinetika has been commissioned by Barking and Dagenham to work with three schools to create designs that reference VE Day. The 8th May 2020 will be the 75th anniversary of VE Day, in light of the current situation in the UK and across the world we asked the pupils to reflect on the following questions:
The pupil’s designs are being incorporated into 4 silk banners that will hang in Barking and Dagenham Council Chambers, two will reference the Second World War and two will reflect on the current crisis and how the county is pulling together.
The gallery shows a selection of the pupil’s designs. The images are currently being transferred into banner designs, after which they will be painted onto silk.
If you would like to design your own banner to commemorate VE Day, Kinetika has made the resource pack available online – you can download the VE Resource Pack here.
VE Day Banners are part of Kinetika’s Drawing Communities Together programme where participants across all our projects are sharing their ideas, sketches and stories about their designs.
