In September 2015 Kinetika was commissioned by EventLab on behalf of Dubai Expo 2020 to design a celebratory parade to showcase at the United Arab Emirates Day, Milan Expo 2015.
The parade had four main themes celebrating the UAE that the Kinetika team translated on to a series of flags, banners and silk structures: Desert, Oasis, Marine and Modern Dubai.
Inspiration for the designs were taken closely from a wide variety of reference imagery that designer Mark Forrest was able to work up into graphic visuals for the client to approve before the production team set about hand painting the final products.
Kinetika produced 44 beautiful hand painted silk items for over 50 performers to parade with, also sending over a team to work alongside EventLab in Milan to put on a successful parade that processed down the long Expo Avenue in front of over 250,000 spectators!
With less than 6 weeks from commissioning to the event itself, this project showcased just how quickly and professionally Kinetika can pull together top level design and output for a high end commercial client, whilst employing local artists and volunteers from Thurrock.
