Kinetika worked with Land of the Fanns to deliver this Community Mapping project. We invited local people and communities to identify and celebrate 100 Stories gathered in response to the different Landscape Character Areas within the Land of the Fanns.
Over 2019 and early 2020 we collected these stories. Throughout March and April this year we worked with the community remotely to create the designs for the 100 silk flags. A selection of the designs can be seen opposite.
Throughout June our team waxed all 100 designs on to silk, and the next stage is for those participants who want to, to paint their silk flags at the Kinetika Design Studio, following social distancing guidelines, in July.
All 100 flags were displayed at Thames Chase Forest Centre on 30th August 2020, and then they will be used as illustrations for a book of 100 stories, to be launched early in 2021.
The culmination of the work on the stories and flags will be a Walking Arts Festival, postponed to 2021 due to Covid-19.
