The Kinetika Bloco was chosen by the Mayor of London, Ken Livingstone, to represent London as part of the “Beijing 2008” Olympic Cultural Festival. The trip saw youth representatives from all across the world coming together with the aim of sharing and connecting each others cultural journeys and participating in the Beijing International Youth Festival.
As part of Imagination Our Nation, thirty-five costumed performers (aged from 14-22 years old) took part in five performances in memorable locations such as on the Great Wall of China and in Beijing city centre. Many cultures co-exist within London and the diversity of London’s population and global citizenship is also emblematic of the Olympic spirit.
The Beijing International Youth Festival was organised by the Beijing Olympic Games Organising Committee, the Beijing Tourism Office and the District Municipal Government. The performances were choreographed by Jeanefer Jean-Charles, and directed by Mat Fox.
