NYT to partner with Kinetika on Summer Acting Course

3 August 2010

National Youth Theatre (NYT) is an organisation which produces epic theatre through the discovery and nurturing of young people's raw talent. This year 750 young people from across the UK will join the NYT and undertake training as part of their Stadium Arts programme. A NYT course equips a young person with tangible performance skills, stretches them physically and develops their understanding of performance art, the world we live in and most importantly, themselves.

This year NYT are pleased to announce a new creative partnership with Kinetika to deliver the next stage of their Stadium Arts programme.

AfroReggea's workshop with Kinetika Bloco

February 2010

AfroReggae led a workshop with the Kinetika Bloco on Friday 22nd Jan with over 30 of the Bloco’s members. This was an inspiring evening for us finding out about all the work they are doing with young people, drug traffickers and police in some of the poorest Favela’s in Rio and a great taste of their style of music and dance. Luciano, Betho and Raphael from AfroReggae led a session with over 30 Bloco members and by the end of the night they’d created a great piece of performance. Check it out on the Bloco’s Facebook  page or You Tube. Hopefully this is the start of a longer term relationship as the Bloco loved the workshop and the AfroReggae guys also said it was one of the best workshops they’d led here in London. Find out more about the amazing work of AfroReggae and the projects they are working on in the UK with People’s Palace Projects at www.favelatotheworld.org

Chaz Gallivants

November 2009

Chaz has been gallivanting across the country! On Saturday 3rd October, she was in Edinburgh. She climbed Arthur’s Seat where she met people doing a fun run, had her photo taken outside the Scottish Parliament, and went for her first swim! On Sunday, she met The Big Man in Kirkcaldy wearing her brand new kilt, and he held her in his hand. Make sure you check out more images of Chaz and The Big Man.

Check out the film on YouTube.

Then she was taken to Blackpool with CARAD, our Welsh Partners, where she saw the lights. She went to Crosby the next day where and met the metal men growing out of the sea and sand. They are designed by Anothony Gormley, instigator of the fourth plinth in Trafalgar Square where Chaz appeared.

October 2009

This new section, created for FasciNation, combines participants who attended our Championing Artists programme, The Bloco and Southwark Youth Carnival dancers. Championing Artists was a Creative Leadership programme, and the artists involved have devised a carnival band around ‘Chaz’ the East London Champion

Through her eyes she sees Hackney for the first time and the wonders of Hackney are brought to life in the costumes designed and made by the participants. There are a number of East London Characters, including The Market Vendor, The Guerilla Gardner and Miss Hackney Family Album. Chaz, travelled in her special mode of transport, The Starship, and The Queen Mother watched over her subjects.
